Given the amount of true cooking done in our kitchen, I should not have been surprised by my Mother's Day cake.
However, after 12 months of NO cake, having given up gluten - and not being one to mix rice flour, almond flour and other funky things in hopes of creating a marginally tasteful dessert - I was so VERY excited to discover a gluten free cake in a box.
Unfortunately, after it was decorated by my wonderful boys, it was anything but delectable. It was our version of an 'I Spy' cake ... can you spot: the Starburst, Smart Food, Doritos, Corn Nuts, Marshmallows, Sour Patch Kids, and a few sprinkles?
It certainly was a memorable Mother's Day treat.
